An actor and model by profession, Manushi Chhillar first came to the limelight in 2017 when she won the Miss World title. She is the sixth Indian woman to win the title. Manushi’s win at Miss World was especially applauded in India because the title had been last won by Priyanka Chopra in 2000.

Manushi Chhillar was born on May 14 1997 in Rohtak, Haryana. Manushi belongs to a jat Haryanvi family. She has an elder sister, Dewangana Chhillar and a younger brother, Dilmitra Chhillar. Manushi completed her schooling at the elite St. Thomas School in Delhi.
Manushi, like true millennial children, can speak in English, Hindi, and the regional Haryanvi dialect. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer. Her dance teachers are the famous Raja and Radha Reddy. Manushi is a driven and vivacious young woman.

Manushi Chhillar’s father, Mr. Mitra Basu Chillar is a scientist by profession. Mr. Mitra works at Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Manushi’s mother, Mrs. Neelam Chhillar, is an assistant professor and the Departmental Head of Neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behavior and Allied Sciences.
Manushi Chhillar has managed to make her parents proud time and again. Not only did she crack the tough medical entrance exam on the first attempt. She was on the journey to becoming a heart surgeon. When Manushi stumbled upon the path towards beauty pageantry her parents and siblings supported her completely.
When Manushi Chhillar was asked, “Which profession deserves the highest salary and why?” in the final title-winning round for Miss World. She answered, “A mother deserves the highest respect. Education:
Manushi studied at an elite school for girls in Delhi, St. Thomas until Grade 12. She was an All India CBSE topper in English in Grade 12 and passed her boards with 96%.
Manushi Chhillar secured admission in Miranda House in Delhi but in due time she cleared her All India Medical Exams and went on to study at the Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College. It takes a few years for a lot of students to clear the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), previously known as the All India Pre-medical Test. But Manushi cleared this competitive exam in her first attempt.

When Manushi Chhillar won the Miss World title, she intended to complete her medical studies in Mumbai and become a doctor alongside her Miss World duties.
To accomplish this, Manushi requested a transfer to a medical College in Mumbai. The Bhagat Phool Singh (BPS) Government Medical College for Women in Sonipat forwarded Manushi’s request to the University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak. UHS gave a No Objection Certificate to Manushi’s request for migration. But the migration request was denied by the Medical Council of India (MCI) in 2019. MCI stated the application for migration was not submitted within the stipulated time. Manushi has once again asked MCI to reconsider her request for migration to Mumbai.
Career:
Manushi Chhillar took the first steps into her modeling career in 2016 when she became one of the finalists for the ‘Fashion Big Bazaar Campus Princess’ title from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Immediately in the year after, In April 2017, Manushi went on to win the ‘Femina Miss India Haryana’ title. Later in the year, Manushi became one of the finalists of the ‘Miss India’ title and won the right to represent India in the ‘Miss World’ 2017 pageant.
Who was Miss World 2017?
Manushi Chhillar won the ‘Miss World 2017’ title out of 120 participants. Priyanka Chopra was the last Miss world from India in the year 2000. Manushi was the first Indian woman to win the Miss World title after 17 years since Priyanka Chopra.
At the Miss World pageant, Manushi Chhillar dazzled the world by being a finalist in multiple competitions such as Top Model, People’s Choice, and Multimedia competitions.
Manushi was the co-winner of the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ competition with her awareness campaign, ‘Project Shakti’. She became the fourth Indian woman to win in this category at the Miss World pageant.
Project Shakti’s objective was to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene. She visited close to 20 villages and spread awareness to over 5,000 women.
In November 2017, Manushi Chhillar was crowned ‘Miss World 2017’ by outgoing Miss World Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico in the finals in Sanya, China.

Manushi Chhillar started her Miss World duties as a celebrity speaker at the 2017 ‘Global Entrepreneurship Summit’ in Hyderabad. Manushi is the brand ambassador for Anaemia Free Haryana.
For ‘Project Shakti’, the government provided ₹18 crores as aid that provided free sanitary napkins for all girls in the government schools of Haryana. The financial aid was presented by the Chief Minister of the state Manohar Lal Khattar.
Manushi Chhillar was the guest speaker at the 10th C4IO organized by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise at Pushkar.
Manushi Chhillar is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Yash Raj Films’ project, Prithviraj. The film is based on Prithviraj Raso, an epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput king. Manushi was cast in the film as the Princess of Kannauj, Samyukta, Prithviraj’s wife. She will be seen alongside the lead, Akshay Kumar, who is playing the role of Prithviraj.
